Behind the scenes on "The Kid"
Art director Marc Allenby and copywriter Nadia Doherty take us through life on the shoot of the new Renault 4+ advert, “The Kid”:
In life, it’s rare when big projects happen seamlessly. That’s especially true when a lot of people are involved. When it came to the shooting of this advert, it was just that: seamless. Even the weather mirrored the atmosphere on set, as we enjoyed a week full of bright days, mild temperatures and gorgeous sunsets.
As the week went on, and we all got to know each other, a lot of big personalities came out. But none were quite as big as the smallest person on set – Conor. Don’t let his baby blues fool you; that kid is three feet of dynamite. Whatever happens after this ad airs, one thing’s for sure, that kid is going places…
During casting, it became clear really quickly that Alan and Connor had an amazing chemistry on camera.
We kept telling the local kids that Justin Bieber was in one of these camper vans; they didn’t really care.
Here you can see Dave conducting very important advertising business while Colin contemplates the mysteries of the universe.
Second day on set and the cars are looking good.
Conor and Alan bonded early on, and we all laughed as he insisted on calling him ‘fake dad’ throughout the shoot. Adorable.
